Asparagus and Lamb – what a great time of year!
Yes, spring is very much with us now and some of the delicious food that it brings is ready to go. But what should we be drinking with it? Well here’s a few ideas to help get those juices going.
The first is Sancerre “Les Collines Blanches” 2017 from Daniel Brochard in Chavignol. Like most producers in the Sancerre region, Daniel has seen his crop diminish to almost nothing thanks to the two small harvests of 2017 and 2018. We have also seen a considerable increase in price of the wine for the same reasons. So just for a short time, we are going to offer you this exceptional wine at an extra 10% discount. It’ll be the ideal partner to asparagus, goat’s cheese or even a simply grilled Seabass. The bright acidity will certainly get your juices going and the mineral finish will brighten the flavor of the food, making the wine seem fruitier.
We’re great lovers of lamb here and this is the perfect time to be enjoying it. But it’s such a food friendly meat that you could virtually put any red with it and find the match to be a winner. However, a particular favourite of ours is Barbaresco and we have the perfect thing for you from Moccagatta in 2010 vintage. It’s soft, very easy drinking with developed aromas of undergrowth very much like a good Burgundy but without too heavy a price tag. Again we’ll offer it out for a short while with an extra 10% discount so don’t hang about to place your order as we only have 7 dozen available.
Coming soon will be a few burgundies purchased on our recent trip that arrive this week. Great quality and excellent prices too.
