Get ready to indulge in the top selling Astoria Corderie Prosecco Di Valdobbiadene Extra Dry. With intense aromas of ripe, green fruit like melon, lime and citrus, this stunning Prosecco is beautifully perfumed. Well balanced and delicious, it's the perfect choice to awaken your taste buds.

Astoria's Corderie is designed for immediate enjoyment whilst the primary fruit flavours remain vibrant and the bubbles are at their most persistent. Over the next 12-18 months, the wine will maintain its freshness but may develop subtle honey and brioche characteristics from extended lees contact. Beyond two years, the fruit will begin to fade and the mousse will soften, though the wine remains perfectly drinkable.

Tasting Notes

AppearancePale straw yellow with persistent, fine bubbles forming an elegant mousse.

NoseFresh aromas of green apple and white peach mingle with citrus zest and white flowers. There's a subtle mineral backdrop that speaks to the hillside terroir. Light honeysuckle and elderflower add aromatic complexity.

PalateClean and refreshing with bright acidity balancing the off-dry character typical of Extra Dry style. Flavours of ripe pear, lime, and melon are complemented by a delicate yeasty richness from the secondary fermentation. The mousse is creamy yet lively, providing excellent texture.

FinishMedium length with lingering citrus and a pleasant mineral salinity.

Overall impressionA well-balanced Prosecco that demonstrates the quality potential of Valdobbiadene fruit with food-friendly freshness.

Food Pairings

In the Veneto, this style of Prosecco traditionally accompanies cicchetti - small plates of baccalà mantecato, sarde in saor, and tramezzini served in Venetian bacari. Locals pair it with risotto di radicchio di Treviso, taking advantage of the wine's acidity to cut through the bitter leaves and creamy rice. During summer evenings, it's enjoyed with crudo di ricciola or simple antipasti of San Daniele prosciutto and fresh figs, the bubbles cleansing the palate between bites.

FAQs

What's the difference between Extra Dry and Brut Prosecco?

Extra Dry Prosecco contains 12-17g/L residual sugar, making it slightly sweeter than Brut (0-12g/L). This touch of sweetness balances Prosecco's naturally high acidity and makes it particularly food-friendly with both savoury antipasti and fruit-based desserts.

How long can I keep this Prosecco?

Prosecco is best consumed within 1-2 years of purchase whilst the fruit flavours remain vibrant and the bubbles are lively. Unlike Champagne, it doesn't improve with age. Store bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place and chill only when ready to serve.

Why is Valdobbiadene DOCG considered superior to regular Prosecco?

Valdobbiadene DOCG has stricter production rules, lower yields, and vineyards planted on steep hillsides that require hand-harvesting. The terroir produces more complex, mineral-driven wines with better structure and longevity than the broader Prosecco DOC zone.

What food works best with Extra Dry Prosecco?

The slight sweetness pairs beautifully with salty cured meats, creamy cheeses, and shellfish. Try it with oysters, smoked salmon, or antipasti platters. The bubbles and acidity also make it excellent with fried foods like tempura or fish and chips.

Should I serve this in flutes or wine glasses?

Use flutes or tulip-shaped glasses to concentrate the aromatics and maintain the bubbles longer. Avoid wide coupe glasses which dissipate both the mousse and the delicate fruit aromatics too quickly.

Is this Prosecco suitable for cocktails?

While delicious on its own, this quality DOCG Prosecco works well in classic cocktails like Bellini or Aperol Spritz. However, given its superior terroir expression, it's best appreciated neat to fully experience the Valdobbiadene character.
