Collection: A distinct lack of Chablis!

Yes, thanks to a few short harvests we now find that Chablis is in extremely short supply so it’s time for us to look at alternatives.
The first place that we’d recommend to you is the ever-popular Maconnais where the soil structure gives a similar minerality to the wines. Here we have several wines that would fit the bill, the ever-popular Macon Peronne, our top-selling wine, and the Macon Fuisse from the Chateau de Fuisse. Both are first class and will certainly make a fine substitute.
Looking further afield, South Africa’s Cape has a particularly suitable wine from the Glenelly Estate, the Glass Collection Chardonnay. This is an unoaked Chardonnay that is without a doubt made in the Chablis mold. A great glass of wine.
Moving away from the Chardonnay-based wines, another popular choice is Muscadet from the Ragotiereagain bright fruit flavours with good mineral notes and a fresh acidity.
Lastly, why not try the Vouvray Sec Les Tuffes from Domaine Darragon. I had a bottle with an Italian grower last night who was really bowled over with both quality and style.
