This month, we’ve selected 2 French Whites, along with a French and an Argentinian Red, meaning there's a wine to go with any type of meal! From whites that pair well with anything spicy to the classic combinations of white wine with fish, white meats and poultry. Then of course you have red wine that pairs perfectly with rich, hearty and meaty dishes.

SIPP MACK GEWURZTRAMINER TRADITION

Sipp Mack Gewurztraminer Tradition shows rich varietal character on the nose and the palate, with notes of violets, rose, lychee and spice. Smooth and amply rich on the palate, with fine acid balance. Long, aromatic finish. Full bodied, but not at all overblown. The epitome of Gewürztraminer and organic too. A very fine wine that's very affordable.

Why we like this wine?

Fruit and spice simply burst from the glass and the balance on the palate is exquisite. Gewürztraminer can be a little overblown at times but this is totally harmonious and perfectly balanced.

  • The finest quality
  • Elegant and refined
  • A perfect example of Gewürztraminer
  • Top with Asian food and spice

DOMAINE DU BICHERON MÂCON-PÉRONNE

Domaine Du Bicheron Macon-Peronne is a wine of true class at an everyday price. It displays all of the clarity that fine Mâcon Blanc can offer. The aromas are floral with dominant notes of hawthorn. The palate shows abundant apple fruit with a suggestion of citrus, great purity and an underpinning minerality that makes it a wonderful food partner. No oak is used here so that the wine reveals all of the freshness that Chardonnay can give.

Why we like this wine?

Macon Villages was one of the first white Burgundy wines that we imported from Domaine du Bicheron. There the standard of wine-making has never varied and neither has the enjoyment derived from each bottle.

  • Top quality
  • A great food wine
  • Pure and fine fruit flavours
  • Exceptional value

CHÂTEAU CANET MINERVOIS ROUGE

Chateau Canet Minervois Rouge has elegant blackberry, cherry and blackcurrant aromas with a floral, violet note and a savoury bacon fat element typical of Syrah. At first the sweet, dark, berry fruit dominates the palate, but spice flavours and ripe, velvety tannins step forward to add complex appeal. Long on the finish, this is a class act that keeps tempting you back for more.

Why we like this wine?

This is a delicious wine that is packed with berry fruit with tannins that support but don't overpower the wine. It's ready for instant drinking but also can age a further year or two when it will develop complexity and depth of flavour. That said, we like it now and it offers such good value for money.

  • A great all-rounder
  • Packed with juicy fruit flavours
  • Great freshness and purity
  • Top value for its quality

MALBEC "UVAS" - MI TERRUNO WINERY

An excellent introduction to Argentinian Malbec. The wine has fine red fruit aromas with some herbal notes and on the palate, it is well balanced, generously fruited with firm yet silky tannins. Serve it with some red meat and you will appreciate just what a great combination Malbec and meat can be.

Why we like this wine?

With the great rise in popularity of Argentinian Malbec, many producers have permitted their vines to overproduce in search of volume rather than quality. None of that with Mi Terruno who gives incredible attention to detail, limits yields to ensure the finest quality grapes and then vinifies so that the full expression of the terroir always remains foremost in the wine.

  • Full expression of Maipu Malbec
  • Ripe and fruity making it an ideal partner for red meats
  • Great value
