Savigny-Lès-Beaune Premier Cru wines are those produced under the strictest conditions of the Savigny-Lès-Beaune appellation, from grapes grown within officially classified premier cru vineyards.

Savigny-Lès-Beaune itself is a large village in the Côte de Beaune sub-region of Burgundy, nestled between the hillsides of a sub-valley in the Cote d'Or escarpment. There are 22 premier cru climats around Savigny, making up about half of the appellation's planted area.

Almost all Savigny-Lès-Beaune Premier Cru wines are red, produced from Pinot Noir. They are similar in style to the red wines of Beaune, being neither as elegant as Volnay nor as powerful as Pommard, yet generally reliable and good value for money. Less than 10% of the appellation's wines are white, produced from Chardonnay grapes.

The premier cru vineyards are located in two distinct groups – one on the south-facing hillside opposite the hill of Corton, the other on the slopes of Mont Battois on the southern side of the Rhoin valley, immediately between Beaune and Savigny. The vines on these sites march in straight rows up the slopes, which begin with a gentle gradient and get sharply steeper as they climb.
