Bouchard Finlayson, Galpin Peak Pinot Noir, 2020

Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak Pinot Noir is beautifully balanced, rich and dark, with lifted aromas of berries, plum and subtle floral notes. The palate is expressive and precise, brimming with ripe fruit and finishing full and generous. Delicious now, yet with the structure to develop gracefully for years in the cellar.

Grown in the estate’s clay-rich soils, this is a standout Pinot Noir, in our view, surpassing many Burgundies at a similar price. Bouchard Finlayson’s vineyards are unique in the Cape, planted to a Burgundian model with tightly spaced Pinot Noir vines. This close planting encourages natural competition, resulting in less vigour, smaller yields and wines of greater depth, brightness and colour.
