Champagne Veuve Doussot Tendresse Rose Brut is a 100% Pinot Noir rosé Champagne with a beautiful rose petal pink colour; revealing rich red fruit flavours. It will delight your palate with its tastes of strawberry and raspberry, ending with a long, refreshing finish.

An absolute joy to drink! This Champagne Veuve Doussot Tendresse Rosé Brut is made from 100% Pinot Noir of which 25% was red, blended in before the secondary fermentation. It was then aged in the cellars for 24 months before disgorgement to retain all of the pure red berry fruit on the nose and on the palate.

Displays a very clean and markedly dry finish that delivers very solid depth and length. I like this. 90 Points

About the grower

The Joly family has been growing vines in the heart of the Champagne region for over a century. In the early 1970s, Georges Joly and his sons created the Veuve Doussot brand, named in honour of his grandmother. Stephan and Sylvie Joly are very proud to continue this family winemaking history and to pursue the tradition of high quality set by their grandfather, father and uncles.

The Joly family favours a reasoned and sustainable approach to viticulture, not totally organic but respecting the balance and traditions of the vineyard and keeping vine treatments to an absolute minimum. At Veuve Doussot, they strive to maintain their heritage with the highest quality wines that they can produce.

Cultivating, picking, vinifying, blending: each step is done with the same passion, making each cuvée truly special. Every glass of Veuve Doussot Champagne generously rewards the patience and dedication needed to create a wines of such excellence.

This rosé Champagne is designed for immediate enjoyment whilst retaining freshness for 2-3 years from purchase. The primary strawberry and raspberry fruit will gradually integrate with the subtle yeast character over the first year. Secondary development will be minimal given the style, with the wine maintaining its vibrant fruit expression throughout its drinking window. Beyond 2028, the delicate red fruit may begin to fade, though the wine will remain pleasant if properly stored.

Tasting Notes

AppearanceRose petal pink with fine, persistent mousse and elegant effervescence.

NosePure red berry aromas dominate with fresh strawberry and raspberry leading. Subtle floral undertones emerge with gentle yeast autolysis adding depth. The 24-month lees aging contributes a refined creamy backdrop without overwhelming the fruit.

PalateCrisp strawberry and raspberry flavours fill the mouth with excellent intensity and purity. The 25% red wine addition provides structure and colour whilst maintaining elegance. Clean mineral acidity drives through the mid-palate, balancing the rich red fruit character perfectly.

FinishLong, refreshing finish with markedly dry character and solid depth that lingers beautifully.

Overall impressionA well-crafted 100% Pinot Noir rosé Champagne offering pure fruit expression with excellent balance and impressive length.

Food Pairings

In Champagne, locals traditionally pair rosé Champagne with charcuterie from the Ardennes, particularly jambon de Reims and boudin blanc de Rethel. Regional specialties like andouillette de Troyes and the famous Chaource cheese complement the wine's red fruit character beautifully. During celebrations, it accompanies biscuits roses de Reims, the pink ladyfinger biscuits designed specifically for dipping in Champagne. The wine also pairs excellently with local river fish like pike and trout, often prepared simply to allow both wine and fish to shine.

FAQs

What makes this rosé Champagne different from others?

This is a 100% Pinot Noir rosé made with 25% red wine blended before secondary fermentation, creating deeper colour and more structured red fruit character than the saignée method. The 24-month lees aging adds complexity whilst preserving fruit purity.

How long can I keep this Champagne?

Best enjoyed within 2-3 years of purchase to appreciate its fresh red fruit character. Store horizontally in a cool, dark place at consistent temperature around 12°C to maintain quality.

What occasions suit this style of Champagne?

Perfect as an aperitif or with light meals featuring salmon, strawberries, or soft cheeses. Its elegant character makes it ideal for celebrations, romantic dinners, or sophisticated gatherings where a refined rosé Champagne is desired.

Should I decant this Champagne?

No decanting required. Serve directly from the bottle well chilled at 6-8°C in proper Champagne flutes or tulip glasses. Open just before service to preserve the mousse and aromatics.

What food pairs best with this rosé Champagne?

Excellent with smoked salmon, strawberry desserts, goat's cheese, or charcuterie. The red fruit character complements dishes with similar flavour profiles, whilst the acidity cuts through rich, creamy preparations beautifully.

How is the pink colour achieved?

The rose petal pink colour comes from blending 25% red Pinot Noir wine with white Pinot Noir juice before secondary fermentation. This method provides more colour control and structural depth than the saignée technique.
