Vignobles Feret Labonnelle, La Croix du Château Feret-Lambert Bordeaux Superieur, 2016

This second selection from Château Feret Lambert is a classic Bordeaux Supérieur, showing generous plum and blackcurrant fruit with delicate floral hints. Bright, juicy acidity and moderate tannins give it balance, and it’s just entering its drinking window with plenty of life ahead.

The wine is primarily Merlot (85%) with 15% Cabernet Franc, grown on the chalky clay soils of Grezillac near Libourne. After harvest, the grapes underwent a cold soak to draw out fine aromas, then were vinified parcel by parcel in small stainless steel vats. The wine was aged for six months in second-year barrels, resulting in a refined and approachable Bordeaux.
